Covid-19 quarantine (aka restricted movement) got you pretty sick of eating your own ‘home’ cooking? Nothing like being told, “No you can’t leave the house” to suddenly start craving foods that just aren’t the same when cooked at home. Or if you are like me, you’re simply a terrible cook. Or just plain lazy. Well, upon learning of the Malaysian governments Restriction of Movement Order (now referred to as MCO), restaurants and food delivery services on the small Langkawi, Malaysia went into action immediately. Never have I seen such an impressive whirl wind of collective organization. The sudden appearance of so many old (and new) food delivery and takeaway options is very comforting to me as I’m sure it must be to others as well. Not only for the convenience during the stressful Coronavirus crisis, but they also bring a bright light of normalcy; like dining out with a twist. And no pots and pans to clean!
Update: July 2021 *This post was published in March 2020. The restaurants listed below reflect takeaway and delivery options which were available at that time. Images below are not current promotions and were only initially included to support the Langkawi community effort of dealing with a sudden ‘lockdown’. For current weekly promotions, either call the restaurants or check with ‘This Week in Langkawi’ HERE
There is of course another reason to take advantage of food delivery in Langkawi and takeaway options, and that is to help these restaurants survive. Many rely heavily on tourism traffic and plenty of local businesses are taking a massive hit this year. But a month-long Movement Control Order (MCO) adds an additional wallop to the mix. But people gotta eat right? So delivery and takeaway options are an excellent way to feed the hungry masses and help pay the household bills. Hopefully this Covid-19 nightmare will end soon and Malaysia as well as the rest of the world can return to normal. But until then Langkawi folks can add a bit of normalcy to their lives by ordering out. *Do note that the various businesses listed below may change menu options, delivery and takeaway options and/or opening hours at any time during or after the Movement Control Order has ended.

Quite a list, right? I may be adding to the list as we slowly wait out our pandemic happenstance, so be sure to check back in. And at the end of the day when all this scary Covid-19 business is said and done, we will still have a great list of Langkawi restaurants. Some will continue to offer deliveries, and some will not, but at the very least we hope we can all continue to eat well and survive this storm. Stay safe and bon appetit!
Oh, and if you would like to know a little more about the resourceful little island community of Langkawi, Malaysia I’ve got plenty of Langkawi blog posts for you to read HERE

Great job Vanessa. Amazing the way the restaurants have adapted their business and become more customer focused. Same here in Dublin with even high-end restaurants now doing take-away and/or delivery. Trying to protect jobs, the business and meet customer needs are the priorities, but all within Government health guidelines. #StayHome #StaySafe StaySane

Thanks Gearoid. I gotta say that it was a few of the smaller, lesser known restaurants that appear to have jump started the idea in Langkawi first. Which I found really impressive because they had to hustle out there and get special delivery permits and the whole nine yards. While many of us were probably still absorbing the shock of what was suddenly happening, these folks just took the bull by the horns. But then that’s Langkawi for ya!
